News Groups and Online Conferencing

News Groups

A newsgroup is an Internet-based discussion about a particular topic.
There are newsgroups on almost every possible subject. Normally they are used as ways to get questions answered and share information about hobbies, musical groups, or any other subject of interest.
Newsgroups, sometimes called bulletin boards or forums, are places where learners can read and post messages or download or upload files. As they are not live or “real time”, posted messages remain for others to look at later. In newsgroups users can also post files including...
  • computer programs,
  • illustrations,
  • pictures, and
  • stories.

Online Conferencing

Online Conferencing is having meetings with people all over the world at any time of the day due to internet. With internet conecttion and a web cam you can have these online conferences with anyone and you talk to each other a discuss as if youwere in a normal conference but now your just talking to a screen that conected online. This has a greayt advantage if someone cant make it to the conference or if you need to talk to many people al ove rthe world at once. Many business men and companies use this.

As you can see in the pictures it is done like this, its easy simple and efficient and it helps a lot.

Chat and Instant Messaging

Instant Messaging

The Internet has revolutionized the way we communicate.
Instant Messaging  is a form of communicatipn over the internet, which offers messages being seen from sender to receiver making it into a conversatioon. Instant Messaging is also known as (IM) for short terms.
With IM, you can keep a list of people you interact with. You can IM with anyone on your buddy list or contact list as long as that person is online. You type messages to each other into a small window that shows up on both of your screens.
This is an example of instant messaging there are many types of them. i.e. blackberry messenger(BBM), imessaging (for iphones) and whatsapp.

CHAT

Online chat may refer to any kind of communication over the Internet. Like for example in websites like Facebook, has Facebook chat were you can chat online and transmitt messages from one user to another, or sites like Tuenti and Messenger. messages et sent straight away from the sender to the reciever if both have internet conection and instantly done. Its very similar to IM.

The adavantages of using instant messaging and chat is that you can have and develope a conversation really quickly over the internet with anyone you want that is conected to the interent. But there is a big disadvantage about this is if you can too attached and addicted to this, it can be unhealthy because you will spend the whole day in your house anfd not go out and get some fresh air.

E-mail !

Electronic mail, also known as email or e-mail, is a method of exchanging digital messages from an author to one or more recipients. Modern email operates across the Internet or other computer networks. Some early email systems required that the author and the recipient both be online at the same time, in common with instant messaging. Today's email systems are based on a store-and-forward model. Email servers accept, forward, deliver and store messages. Neither the users nor their computers are required to be online simultaneously; they need connect only briefly, typically to an email server, for as long as it takes to send or receive messages.

POP3 and IMAP

POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) is a protocol used to retrieve electronic mail (email) from the email server. POP3 protocol was created because of the design of the electronic mail system that requires the server to accommodate email for a while until it’s taken by an eligible recipient.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a standard protocol for accessing / retrieving e-mail from the server. IMAP allows users to choose e-mail message that he will take, make a folder on the server, search for specific e-mail messages, even deleted e-mail messages on server. This ability is much better than POP (Post Office Protocol) which only allows to retrieve/ download all the messages without exception.
